As we continue to help with the rebuilding. We can't help but give thanks to all the people who helped us provide relief to the people of Bahamas. It was because of supporters and donors that we were able to halt operations and dedicate weeks to the transportation of resources, and people too and from the Abacos. We aided in the evacuations of people who were in need of immediate rescue and were able to get supplies to first responders. The Bahamas is still very much in need of aid, and support. The need for supplies will continue as the rebuilding will take years. We have left the original list of goods up because those items will always be needed. Children were left without parents, and hospitals, schools and orphanages remain under supplied and often over capacity.
Due to COVID19 the Toursim industry in the Bahamas has taken a huge hit, sadly it has yet to be a year since Dorian struck Bahamas. Now more then ever the people of Bahamas could use our help. For more information on how you could help please email us at info@seatheshore.org or donate today.
An aerial view of damage caused by Hurricane Dorian is seen in Marsh Harbour on Great Abaco Island on September 4, 2019, in Great Abaco, Bahamas.
With the severity of destruction that Dorian has caused Sea the Shore will be shifting its gears and will be redirecting a percentage of funds, resources and personnel from environmental and sustainability issues to aiding in the evacuations, support and rebuilding of the Abacos and Grand Bahamas. More Specifically, issues pertaining to the children.
Sea The Shore has been partnering with Shore Thing Escapes to aid in the evacuation efforts of the Abacos. We have aided in evacuations out of Marsh Harbour while working with NEMA over the course of a week. It became evident from this experience that the amount of help needed in the Bahamas is exponential. You may see pictures or news coverage, but one cannot truly grasp the magnitude until you are there, the smell, the site, the sounds. The magnitude cannot be seen, it truly must be experienced.
It will be our goal to help any organization dedicated to rebuilding and supporting the families and kids’ left behind from Dorian. Specifically, the establishments and organizations such as schools and orphanages.
Sea the Kids will be our specific Fundraising initiative for Dorian
